Three Sisters
There is a lot on offer at the Three Sisters Recreation Area, whether you are looking for the chance to enjoy the peace and quiet of the countryside, or to have a go at racing on the track on site.
Visitors to the site will be impressed by the tranquil beauty of the lake which plays home to a variety of birdlife including Canada geese, Mute swans, Grey heron and Kingfisher. Coarse fishing, canoeing and model boats are available by day ticket on the lake and the extensive surrounding footpaths are a haven for walkers, cyclists and horse riders.
The woodland bird feeding station provides the perfect opportunity to enjoy closer views of local wildlife with regular visitors including the nationally rare Willow Tit, plus Jays Chaffinch, Spotted Woodpecker.
Picnic and play areas can be found on site together with a Visitor Centre, toilets and free parking.
For those looking for a thrill, the Three Sisters Race Circuit, one of the most versatile race circuits in the UK is situated alongside the recreation area. For further information contact: 01942 270230.
Future exciting developments include a major new wetland which will provide a publicly accessible wildlife wetland reserve, increasing the biodiversity of the area, and provide a gateway for visitors into the wider Wigan Flashes nature reserve.
