On Sunday 5 February there will be a sponsored walk to raise money for the Mayor's Charity Appeal for Marie Curie Cancer Care and Wigan Multiple Sclerosis Society. The walk is approx 4.5 miles (2—2.5 hours) around the new canal towpath, wildlife areas and the Flash itself, commencing at 10 am. Participants to meet at the portacabin next to the Wardens offices (free parking). Light refreshments served at end of walk. All walkers must have sponsorship beforehand. PENNINGTON Flash will be hosting a Big Bird Watch this Sunday (29 January) to celebrate the bird life and importance of Pennington Flash and Lightshaw Meadows.
